Service Description

Watercolor is a progressive course taught by Pamela Lenck Bradford, MFA at the Ginkgo Tree Fine Art Center. Class size is limited to 10-15 students, and the environment is respectful and supportive. It is intended to teach beginner to intermediate watercolor techniques. Watercolor paints are popular because they are so versatile and easy to use. There are affordable high-quality paints, brushes, and acid-free paper for beginning students, and they are simple to transport for on-location sessions and travel. In this workshop we cover mixing warm and cool colors, experimenting with brush strokes and the mixing of colors, painting three-dimensional objects, and directing and manipulating light. We will cover all wet and dry approaches for sequential core watercolor painting skill-set building. I have suggested reliable supplies below, but if you already have quality watercolor paint and brushes, please bring them. The watercolor paper block that I have assigned is essential and so are the array of colors I will be teaching with. I am teaching this class with tubes of watercolor paint by Winsor-Newton. Professional quality brushes are going to give better results, but the beginner Princeton Real Value Brush set will serve you well. (More on the set later.) If you have any questions, please contact me by phone (405-473-4915). The Ginkgo Tree Fine Art Center is in Norman, Oklahoma near Lake Thunderbird. As this is Pamela’s private studio, the address will be given after enrolling in the course. Students must be at least 18 years of age, already have foundational drawing skills, and have a serious goal to improve their skills. Students are expected to commit to the full workshop of 4 classes over 4 weeks. Students must arrive on time, as class start- and end-times are strictly adhered to. New students must first contact Pamela to state their interest before enrolling online! Saturdays, 1 – 3 PM CST, March 8 - May 3, 2025 See class flyer for supplies information.
